CPD Overview | Print |

Continuing professional development (CPD) is a global trend and professions around the world have been developing and implementing methods for lifelong learning - at the same time giving senior professionals a formal method of gaining CPD points by contributing their expertise.

In essence CPD is a way in which seniors "give to and develop the young professional" and the young professionals "take from seniors and develop themselves".

Thus, the profession grows globally and the status of both the practitioner and the profession is enhanced and its value is firmly established.

PROGRAMME LEVELS:

For delegates at a senior management level, either as an account director or a Public Relations manager. The delegate has a wide range of skills but needs to enhance knowledge and understanding of industry issues. The delegate understands the importance of communication management as a strategic management function. The delegate has also attended a CPD workshop at intermediate level

The delegate is likely to have two to three year’s Public Relations experience. The delegate may be working at an account executive level or recently promoted to an account manager level. The delegate may have a Public Relations qualification with some work experience and has previously attended a related CPD workshop/programme at introductory level.

These workshops are ideal for new entrants to the public relations profession or those with up to one year’s experience. The delegate may be a Public Relations Assistant or a newly-promoted Public Relations officer, or a non-Public Relations practitioner with some responsibility for Public Relations. The delegate may also be a graduate with a general degree and minimal Public Relations experience. The delegate requires basic communication skills and an understanding of how the industry operates

These workshops are aimed at all levels of practitioners and cover a broad range of special interest subjects. They specialise in a specific topic relevant to public relations practitioners and communication management professionals. These workshops investigate specific issues or practices facing organisations today.
