Wikipedia states that fundraising or fund raising (also development) is the process of soliciting and gathering contributions as money or other resources, by requesting donations from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or governmental agencies.

This highly acclaimed and practical fundraising workshop is based on actual experience in the South African context. It includes a presentation on “How to market your institution/company”.
In other words, how do you go about telling your prospective donors of your needs, dreams, aspirations and/or what your organisation stands for?

Course objectives:

  • To provide better understanding of the South African fundraising environment
  • To learn the basic and more advanced principles of successful fundraising
  • To plan, implement, manage and administer a fundraising campaign
  • How to utilise the services of patrons
  • To learn the fundamentals of proposal writing, donor research and donor reporting
  • Learn how to compete successfully in a highly competitive environment
  • The principles of accountability, delivery and transparency
  • To learn how to utilise a practical marketing plan to the benefit of your organisation
  • Learn how advertising, publicity, direct marketing, public relations and promotions can support your fundraising efforts

Who should attend?
This workshop is essential for the professional development of both less experienced and experienced fundraisers, fundraising managers, entities of NGOs, NPOs, charities, schools, volunteer fundraisers, part-time fundraisers and all those who wish to upgrade their skills and acquire new insights into this highly competitive business.
Excellent reports have also been received from churches, marketers, schools, clubs, welfare organisations, NGOs and various institutions that are partly or wholly dependent on outside funding. In fact, this workshop is a must for management of welfare organisations. We guarantee that you will face the challenges of fundraising with renewed enthusiasm, confidence and knowledge. The workshop utilises South African techniques for South African conditions.
