Strategic public relations should feature in the long-term planning and development of a company. It can provide creative solutions and add a new dimension to an organisation’s strategy. In reality, however, corporate communication and strategic public relations rarely enjoys the importance it deserves. Public relations professionals often find themselves relegated to technician, implementer roles and not adding value as strategic corporate contributors.

This one day workshop is designed to provide participants with strategic tools needed for the journey of promoting public relations in a company - tools which aim to elevate public relations’ status within the organisation and restore it to its rightful position. Corporate communication and strategic public relations should be able to stand on its own as a creative force in a company, contribute to the bottom line, and thereby, directly impact the achievement of the company's business goals.

Outcomes of this workshop for participants:

  1. Aligning your objectives to the company's business goals
  2. Using environmental monitoring to provide input to top management
  3. Identifying your company's strategic stakeholders and issues
  4. Feeding this information into the company's strategy formulation processes
  5. Setting clear communication objectives
  6. Developing communication programmes to address strategic issues
  7. Using research to build credibility with top management
  8. Effective measurement tactics to evaluate outputs and outcomes
  9. Reporting lessons learnt and best practices to senior management
