| Photography - The sequel |
As the great American photographer Ansel Adams said "Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art". With this in mind, the long awaited advanced Photography workshop finally arrived. Under the exuberant and expert guidance of Zoom Photography's Richard Strever, the professional workshop was a resounding success. After a quick recap of photography fundamentals from the last workshop, it was time to delve deeper into the fascinating world of photography.
With UNISA providing the backdrop, the technical aspects were the next item on the photography agenda. Complex camera theory delivered in a simple, easy to understand manner included; shutter speed, aperture; white balance; compensation and fill-in-flash. This was all done in Richard's trademark style, as one attendee remarked "Professionally 'untechnical' (sic) and highly technical camera stuff" Another noted, "Brilliant workshop. Immense value-added and great presentation." Extra spice was added to the workshop as Richard introduced lighting; backgrounds and foregrounds; and creative ideas for group photographs.
Once all the teaching was done, the learning could begin.
The feedback from those who attended 'Photography – the sequel' was overwhelmingly positive, "I feel more comfortable using a camera in manual mode now". There was even an appreciative word on the catering, as a delegate wrote, "I feel I am a better photographer and I also loved the lunch and dessert".
A camera, a skilled facilitator, willing participants and a lovely meal were all the ingredients needed for a superb workshop.
