The board of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa has the honour to award its Gold Medal for outstanding Public Relations to South Africa to Dr Imitiaz Sooliman. This award recognises the incomparable humanitarian work, Dr Imitiaz Sooliman has rendered to South Africans, his country, and internationally. It has been awarded only 12 times in the institute’s 60years of existence.

Mr Mohamed Sooliman, from Gift of the Givers receives PRISA Gold medal award in honour of his father, Dr Imitiaz Sooliman.

Having given up his career as a medical doctor to undertake missions with the Gift of the Givers to some of the extremely isolated places around the world, he has responded to earthquakes, kidnapping, floods, war, famine, tsunami’s. Under his leadership, teams provide food and shelter to millions and have established hospitals, clinics, water wells and built homes. In addition they have funded scholarships.

His leadership, compassion and commitment to serve all human beings is more than admirable and together with his excellent relationships, the various government, local and international media raised the profile, image and reputation of South African as a country that cares and is willing to extend help and assistance both locally and internationally.

Imitiaz Sooliman has made the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa proud to be South African and the Institute is honoured by having him join the ranks of its esteemed Gold Medal recipients.
