SAQA recognises PRISA as the professional body for the public relations industry

The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) is proud to announce that the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) board officially recognises PRISA as a professional body and has approved the registration of the following designations on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF): Public Relations Practitioner (PRP), Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (CPRP) and the highest level of recognition, the Accredited in Public Relations (APR). These designations will now be registered on the NQF website.

“We are delighted to have received this important recognition from SAQA. This endorsement will further enhance PRISA’s well- established 55-year history in the industry, as well as our industry-recognised public relations designations,” says Adele Paulsen, Executive Director, PRISA. “Official recognition from a statutory body like SAQA not only acknowledges PRISA as a professional body for public relations, it also highlights both PRISA and its members' commitment to adhering to the guidelines and policies stipulated according to the NQF Act of 2008. It will also assist PRISA in facilitating the necessary Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training and skills development to its members, in order to elevate the profession to the highest level.”

“PRISA has worked diligently and passionately to ensure that all its systems, endorsements, governance, CPD, administration, data and processes successfully met the stringent quality criteria required by the NQF - an exciting and challenging process!

We are proud to acknowledge that PRISA has earned its place in the industry and we look forward to the ongoing cooperation with SAQA,” concludes Paulsen.
